Devlog #1

Lumi's Nightmare is being created for the Godot Wild Jam #82.
The theme is Unseen so I am making a platformer where you cannot see the platforms/environment and have to use the shadows that are cast to navigate. Your character - Lumi - has a light attached to his head which allows you to find your way around. Your light is your health and you gain health by collecting light bulbs.
Much of this project is inspired by my childhood nightmares. Fears of the dark, monsters, and being lost all feature in this game. Enemies include ghosts, shadow monsters, and an evil Russian Nesting Doll.
One of the Wildcards for the Jam is "Immersive" (Have the UI be part of the world) so you can - but don't have to - judge Lumi's health by the brightness of his light. If you run out of life your light goes out, but you have a few seconds to find an additional light bulb in order to save yourself. However, without a light you cannot see the environment at all.
All visual elements and coding are being completed by myself - Mr. Pretzel. I do not have experience/skill making audio elements so those will probably be sources from itch and properly credited. As this is a Godot based jam I am using Godot 4.4 to create this game. This will hopefully be my 4th finished project (and 3rd game jam).
Lumi's Nightmare
What would a platformer be like if you couldn't see the platforms? Infer the environment around you using the shadows.
